Headed to Echo Ridge Saturday 12/26 since Leavenworth is so bare right now. Glad I made the drive from Wenatchee. I found there to be 3 types of snow/conditions. In the sun, soft snow and great skiing. In the pure shade, pretty good skiing if a little icy. The toughest sections had thawed and re-frozen and we very hard and icy making it tough to get an edge in. Descending on this stuff was a real challenge and I had to put one ski on the other side of the classic tracks in order to keep my speed down by snow-plowing. I skiied the lower easy loop, then the outer trails on the east and back down through the middle.
Can't wait to come back when there is some fresh snow. This place has got to be the most scenic nordic skiing in WA, moreso than Methow.
